Yellow Yellow Dirty Fellow |
There certainly is a lot more to this title than just the rhyme…The Australian team has yet again ‘showcased’ their rude and arrogant behaviour along with the Champions trophy they bagged after beating the Windies by eight wickets. A welcome win that has certainly come after a long five attempts but has brought along bad taste to the event.
On this sunday, during the prize distribution ceremony of the Champions Trophy, I guess the Australians were too excited and overjoyed to realise whos-who. They certainly forgot that they were the ambassadors of their country, representing it here in India and that Mr. Sharad Pawar was the top official of the BCCI here in India. Sharad Pawar much a political man, might have preferred to do what comes naturally to politicians - being diplomatic, at this by overlooking the act. But it deserves a strong frown to convey the Ausies that they have done the wrong.
What happened???: Ricky Ponting was too excited about getting the trophy, so he taps the shoulders of BCCI president Sharad Pawar and gestures to present the trophy. (Bah! May be suggesting that… Indians didn’t deserve it. We never said we did.) Then he pushes him aside for the photoshoot with the trophy. Damien Martyn joined the party too. He also nudged Sharad Pawar to move off-stage. Poor guy confused… found it even difficult to move around the mess, and finally moved away from the stage after being pushed off disrespectfully by Damien Martyn.
Watch the video:
How bad an example for budding cricketers to follow. If this is what Champions do, thank god India dosn’t figure out there. As a cricketer you should be a gentleman. You should know how to behave on-field as well as off-field. I still remember and appreciate Steve Waugh. What a gentleman he was. Not like these crazy immature freaks who do not know how to respect the elders.
Some might really tag it as “a blasphemous and racist act” while others might want to call it “making mountain of a molehill”. But to me this is yet another boorish behaviour that the present Australian Team has showcased. Thanks for letting us know that we are looking upto an uncilivilised and looks like even illiterate champions. Anyways, now that Ricky Ponting has showed an intent to apologise for the act it might turn down a little of the flak they have received from the Indian Media.
But believe me… winning has gone into the nuts of these nuts! Oh I mean brains of these nuts! ;) How analogous in their case otherwise…
Here are a couple of pics of what happened.
a) Ponting gesturing at Sharad Pawar to give the trophy.
b) Damien Martin pushing Sharad pawar off the stage.

this incident clearly portrays the arrogance of the AUSIES………as of now i dont see INDIA breaking their arrogance in the WC……….but hope some other country does
Once again the sore losing indians have something to complain about if u didnt notice before the australians were handed the trophy the announcer had already said goodnight implying the telecast was about to cease so Ricky Ponting and the australian team gestured for the trophy so we could actually see them celebrate with the trophy and damien martyn hardly pushed Mr Pawar it was more of a caution to move out of the front of the picture as u can see clearly in the video his feet were firmly planted and he had no intention of moving. Even after the Aussies are handed the trophy its no more than 4 to 5 seconds we see them with the trophy b4 we r whisked back to the studio to check what the commentary and hosts have to say. At least when a tournament is run in Australia regardless of what nation the winner is from, the ACB give the team and fans ample time to view there winning team with their trophy. So from what i can see its just a bunch of Indians who are sore losers because they were hosts and werent good enough to win on home soil. The illiterate comment u made earlier is unfounded furthering my point the indians are immature and as a result of not winning ur now clutching at straws to come up with something to knock the CHAMPIONS
Mr. SLeAKeR…
I am still thinking if ur comment has come as a critique over the event or a disgusted Indian who is tired of seeing India lose and has put all his money now on Australia.
We as Indians arnt complaining of Australia winning. They are true champions on field, but with this act certainly the losers off field. My dear, there is something like VERBAL COMMUNICATION before you can even gesture at the dignitary who may be a little lost waiting for the announcemnt to present the trophy.
You cannot just tap his shoulders… Not of the person who is so dear to Indian cricket - Comes from Sachin.
We arnt whinning of that India has lost in the series. If you have read my post properly, I have mentioned that India never deserved the trophy. But I have a strong contention that the way Ricky Ponting and even other players gestured at Mr. Pawar to give the trophy it looked like teasing him.
There is no excuse to this act. I wonder if you have ever tapped the shoulder of the dignitary to give you the prize at your annual school function, and at the next second pushed him aside so that your parents could take a photo.
Mr.SLeAKeR, you have simply got this thing completely wrong!
@SLeAKeR
Ok… correction… your IP address tells me that you are from Australia.. Good to know what an Australian feels on this issue. But you have still got it wrong!
oh no u have misinterpreted my comments, before Australia are handed the trophy,(im not sure of his name)the host of the telecast had wrapped up and the Australian team was clearly worried that they would not get the proper presentation ceremony for what they had achieved,so in that essence they needed to hurry otherwise Australian fans would simply miss out on seeing their champions lift the trophy, as for the tap on the shoulder even the commentators commented on how long it was taking him to hand it over he was just standing there not even giving a speech, martyn was not pushing it was a gesture to move as wat was previously communicated VEREBALLY by ricky ponting when he pointed off stage asking him to quickly move aside as there was not sufficient time for them to celebrate
I do not intend to offend the way you think or may be all Australians do. But basically its the CULTURAL DIFFERENCE.
We in India respect our elders as definately even all Australians do. But we make it sure that we put it in our actions. Certainly tapping the shoulders of any elder(whoever it may be), or pushing him off the stage just because we want a few photos to glorify ourselves is just not what we would like to do. And I think there is no harm if Australians learn to do this. :)
I have to agree with Sleaker here.
I think for a team like Australia, they are still extremely polite and well mannered players. I have seen the interviews with Damien Martin and Ricky ponting. And Glen McGrath is just one of the most polite and well manner persons off the field. I think for a Team like australia, who have such a great winning record, and who can beat any team on their home ground, they are very level headed and not proud at all. Maybe if the the Indians had such winning records it would have gone to their heads and they would have become proud.
Many Indians are probably going to hate me for this, but maybe there was a case for SP to offer appology to Ricky Ponting. He held on to the trophey too long. Its the ausses who won the matches in the heat, dew, dust and sweat of India. Mr. Sharad Pawar was having a good time in his Air conditioned room and cars. After the Ausies do all the hardwork of winnign the tournment, then Mr Shardad Power deicdes to take the limelight and stand in front of the camera grinning.
I appologize to all fellow Indians, but I was honestly a bit disgusted. Its just wrong. You got reward the hardworker, you cant push the hardworking Aussies in the background and give SP the camera limelight just because he is some president or politician. You got to reward the hardworkers, not the politicians.
BTW, I will still say that India are going to beat AUS in the world cup.
India have learnt painful lessons. They will grow from it. India have what it takes to beat aus anyday. They lost the game becasue they batted first and didnt know how much to post. Thats why dravid played slow. If India were chasing India had a much better chance of winning.
I am sure India is going to hand out a defeat to Aus in the next game they play, its a long time coming.
There was a time under the captainship of Azurudin when India would beat Aus with ease, chase any target they set, and win with ease.
Those days will come back.
But as for SP, I simply cant say that its pontings fault, its more the fault of Mr. SP. Politicians should be kept of the circket field, ,as should half naked woman from comenting on cricket.
gone quiet Aseem?
whos this australian nut..here??
And how many [unwanted] Indian nuts are living in Australia right now?
Hi Sleaker…
Dont be too overjoyed with responses from some Indians. Most of them have forgiven the Australian players as some excited little toddlers who are just learning to behave well off the field (or may be say specifically in Inida. Because our cultural background is certainly not the very same as yours).
What I want Ricky Ponting and his team to be doing, is rise up.. rise up to the stature of Steve Waugh (As I already said… what a gentleman he was!) I hvnt seen him do anything like this at any function. He was always so very calm and composed.
And remember, a white dot on a black board is barely visible. But a black one on a white board will stick into your eyes! So why really give someone a chance to point fingers at you?
And as far as your comment goes:
I am sure you know this is my blog, and I decide what and when I have to speak. Hehe… I hope we dont sound like men at war! Lol! We better be frens :)
It would have happened due to the Australian players overexcitement on winning the tropy for the first time.
Ricky Ponting is perhaps becoming the greatest Australian Captain of all time. The World Cup is ours
Oh yea SLeAKeR? Dont be too over confident. It was just the silence before the storm. Beware… the Indians are coming to snatch the world cup from the Australians! :)

Please take all my comments in the spirit of the Sport! Cheers!
Haha,
You guys are sounding like a bunch of school kids man!!!
Im not complaining though:)
u cannot possibly compare India to Australia. Have u seen what the Aussies have been doing WINDIES and the World Cup.
bring on the Windies and the World Cup
@Sarosh - School kids! Lol! Yea.. but therz a need to push the morals of millions of Indians, to reinstill faith. Me doing the same. ;)
@SLeAKeR - Hehe… yea Windies is no match for Autralia. So me not overjoyed with the giant crushing action of India on West indies. What I want to convey, is that our Star World Class players (Ganguly, Tendulkar and Dravid) all have got in form right before the World Cup. They have just tasted victory and mind you now HUNGRRRRYYYY for it :) So beware!!! ;)
The Indians are coming…!!!
Hehehe well looks like we’re in for a great World Cup. Hope we have some thrilling matches with u guys, at least u do give us some competition
[…] N.B.: This post has got kicking one of my older posts. If you too want to join the debate of will take away the world cup (India or Australia)… click here: http://www.aseemn.org/posts/yellow-yellow-dirty-fellow/ india, west indies, cricket […]
Australia may have the strongest odd of this world cup, but they forgot that bangladesh have beaten them too, lol.
so in cricket anything is possible, and anything can happen.
It is going to be a very interesting world cup th ough.
Australia is the greatest cricketing nation ever. AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE OI OI OI!
hey sarosh maybe you should rethink ur comment the indians just got beat by bangladesh in the world cup lol looks like us aussies are on our way to victory
Haha,
True man, India did get beat.
But I blame the aussie coach, haha.
I still dont think Aus is goign to win this world cup though. South africa and west indies will be strong contenders too.
We have to wait and watch:)
well guys looks like no world cup for India hehehehe, I do believe the cup is coming back down under afer our powerhouse performance against south africa. It must hurt to lose ur super 8 place to bangladesh i guess it was karma for the comment sarosh made back on January 31st
Hi Sleaker,
Are you referring to the school boy comment I made?
Btw, the only reason that India are out of the WC is because Chappel is an undercover agent sent from Aus to ruin the Inian cricket team from within, lol.
woah woah woah the aussies have done it a record third successive world cup, its official ricky ponting is the greastest captain of all time, Did you all know that the aussies havent lost a world cup match since 99. WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS !!!!!!!!! OF THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats Sleaker,
BTW, dont you think the cricket world is going to get bored of australia soon if they dont offer interesting matches any more?
in ur opinion the matches are boring only because Australia is so dominant, You should all relish what you are seeing because it will never be repeated in the cricket history, This is what Australia is capable of even without a few of their best (ie Symonds 1st half of WC and Lee). AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE OI OI OI
