And he slept forever… |
A close friend and a college mate Prasad, had been to an excursion organised by the college while he had no idea that it would be the last day he would see. He drowned in a water body in the mountains where the college had organised the trek to. While he was probably still alive when rescued by his friends, I fail to understand why a doctor could not reach that place when localites and police could. What he needed was simply some professional first aid. And he died struggling for life for hours together. They say it is “destiny”… the word I feel suffocated and trapped by now.
Lone child of his parents their life will never be the same again. So will be ours warped forever. While we remember every moment we shared with him… All the happy moments in our college canteen, those trips we made to different places together, times when we laughed and sang along, every moment from the past hitting back and irking us now. Don’t have the courage to go back and see his orkut profile where people wrote scraps and testimonials whishing him good luck for all his life. Where has all that gone? Do good wishes really never count? I feel like lost all faith in God and good being. Nature again teasing us with how miniscule and unimportant as humans we are.
While his body lied there in front of us, being prepared for the cremation and final goodbye a friend of mine continuously cried “Wake up… wake up… Prasad… this is your last chance… wake up…” only to realise in a few moments… that he had slept forever and never to see the light of the day again…

My new Nokia N73 Music Edition |
Damn! This was the toughest decision of my life… parting with my Nokia N3315 and buying the N73. Hehe yea, N3315… because it was class apart. Its popped out of my pocket once while I was speeding over 80kmph on my bike, its fallen off a 100 times… yet worked so perfectly all the last four years I have been using it. Not let me down anytime!
I have always been a Nokia fan. Even if their Symbian OS phones hang more number of times than the rupees in their price, the features and the brand value offered by Nokia is quite unmatchable (Ok maybe the Apple iPhone can beat this by 2008 when it is released in

How to fix the RAM - Explaining to a girl over phone! |
“Women and Americans are kinda dumb at PCs”. I really don’t know why people say it so! I don’t! Even if you may conclude part of it from the conversation transcript below. ;)
Well, I would be dead tomorrow if I had to disclose the real name of the girl in this conversation over my blog. So lets call her simply “Girl”. Please do not make any generalised statements over the example cited below. I am just sharing my experience. I do not want a Women’s commission to sit in front of my house with a dharna or any of those Geeky Tech Girls (anytime smarter than me) hack into my blog!
Just to be safe let me put this disclaimer: :P
The events and characters mentioned in this blog post are fictitious. Any similarity to actual persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental.
Ok here we go… A friend of mine called me up and…
Girl: My PC is not working. Someone told me that its because of the RAM, as my PC is making a “Peeng…Peeng…” sound.
Me: Hmm. Yea looks like a RAM problem. There must be some dust or moisture on the RAM.
Girl: Can you come over to my place and get it right? This Tuesday?
Me: Yup sure. Just keep a screw driver handy.

Shabji…do din se kuch nahin khaya…bhook lagi hai |
“Shabji…do din se kuch nahin khaya…bhook lagi hai”. Walk out onto the streets and most certainly a homeless tramp would utter this to you. An age-old preset line used by every beggar, not surprising really, it still works! It did on me too yesterday evening when I walked out of a cellphone showroom. Well, I may be an exception to this, as I usually give away atleast a rupee to them. Possibly so that they stop annoying me or just because I cannot see someone in poor state. Yes, I am still learning to be a beggar ignorant, a skill that most metropolitan people have mastered. Anyway, a few bucks away and I am not broke. So I don’t really mind.
So this eight or nine year old poor kid finds me (they all always do! :( ). It sometimes amuses me, how beggars find their catch, is it just randomly? If so may be I am their random favourite who does not usually disappoint them. I am just too bad at ignoring beggars. Especially when I walk out from one of my city’s premium restaurants (where I just paid a huge overhead for the food and yet left a few bucks as a tip to a salaried guy waiting there). Then why not a few bucks to the beggar who spot me on while entering, and waited all while till I was out so that he can get a few bucks. It’s very interesting how these beggars spot their catch (rock-hearted to say so… I am just learning to be). A couple sitting on a beachside (you think that guy with a fat wallet would refuse in front of his fiancee?), a mom with her kid who gave them a glance (Bet me! She gonna give a rupee in her kid’s hand and ask to handover, thinking that she taught some good values)… But then why me?!!! Or may be as I said, I just might be their random favourite.

Happy Birthday to Me! |
This is Aseem… a little different than a few hours ago, 21 now! I dont really feel like old. But I know I am slowly getting there. When I was small my reference for being old was teens, got to the teens and then thought 20s should be fine to be called old enough. Now got to 21 and I can still feel a kid in me. Being old is yet so very far! And everytime I make it to what I felt was the age to call mature and responsible my reference changes. :P
Right from my days in KG to my 12th exams, I have never ever got a chance to celebrate my birthday. Everytime without fail my final exams for the academic year would coincide with my birthday :( . But am happy its not the same in engineering. Exams are a way ahead :) . So I can just have a nice time with family or hangout with some close frenz. Planning to do the same today :). Hmm… looks like a busy day too. Been receiving calls right from midnight and I have just lost count of all of them :p. Orkut scraps on a birthday are like a supernova explosion….. have loads to reply to! Also there is this most important match of the world cup for India today (in which India is not playing) Bermuda Vs Bangladesh. Indian team… I know you are good for nuts, so please dont waste more of our time, pray that Bangladesh(the deserving winners against you) win. And all those bookies please dont fix this match with Bangladesh. Let the Indian team be kicked out of World Cup today, that will be a perfect birthday gift for me.
So what am I gifting myself on this birthday? hehe… yea actually had plans to redesign this blog, but kinda got so busy with websites and college last few days that I just didnt get the time to. Fast forward another 2 weeks and I should be free to start working on a new blog design. Just one of those little ways to keep me up for blogging. Have been down all last month :(. Need to give it some life back.
Hey there my cellphone is ringing again… My first love my Nokia 3315. I call it N-3315! :P

Rising from the ashes… |
No fire… not charred… no ashes… but just getting back to life that I felt like lost all last month… out of the grave now and back to blogging. Last 30 days were full of Khatta-Meetha experiences. Some I don’t want to remember, some I can’t forget. But I am glad that this pretty long sabbatical from blogging is finally over… or rather partially maybe. Only time will unfold. Don’t know if I was off blogging because I was a little more busy than usual or it was that nothing came to my lazy head.
As JohnTP put it “Every blogger stops blogging once in a while…” in his post Do You Apologize to your readers for not blogging.
An apology has to fight the inner ego first, that no blogger would confess of having. But be a dedicated blog reader of a blog, and you will know how frustrating it is if you don’t see a new post when you log on to the site for more than a week. So here it is… battling my inner ego (If you thought I was too humble to have one. Your wrong, I do!) let me put it in the most modest way possible:
“I am really sorry for not blogging all last month”.
I can’t draw any good things out of this break… though my blog traffic has somehow increased and so has the Google Adsense earning (however meager it might be). Should have been the other way round eh?
Hmm… Anyways lets not get into the past now. The saffron skies tell me it’s a new fresh day, calling me out to fly… fly high into the boundless space (afterall I am Aseem - without boundaries). Just keeping my fingers crossed that I am not facing west…

Meri pulsar hi kyun? |
DATE: 18th Jan 07 (Again… me a lazy writer)
Pretty bad year for my pulsar 150. About a month back I had a fall and my beloved pulsar had to live with some cosmetic damages. It dsnt get better…..
Today morning I was in a run for time to meet up a friend and then proceed for a client meeting. Much to my liking, I was late. But in such situations I do rely a bit on my bike which helps me vroom.
I removed my bike out of the garage and wondered for a second of what was missing, only to realise that both my rear view mirrors were not there. Stolen! Ahhhrrrgggggghhhh!!! I didn’t have time to think over this theft. The next second I kick started. Another one… yet another… bah! What has happened to my bike???!!! The petrol showed zero, I had more than 2 litres for sure…WDF! But thought I shouldn’t waste time cursing the thief and get some petrol instead. So I went with my neighbour to the nearby petrol pump and got some. The fuel tank wasn’t all dry now. But then I realised that my fuel tank to carburetor pipe was ripped off. And the petrol started dripping. I checked for more… spark plug also ripped off! What a maniac thief! F**ked my bike like anything! Now do thiefs hate pulsars so much?
Later we realised that the Activa mirror was also stolen and petrol of my neighbour’s bike. What do these people get out of such lame robberies man! (I certainly don’t mean that they should go and loot a bank. Lolz!). My pulsar without the rear view mirrors looks so weird now… I better get it done. Oh you must be wondering how I am so cool about the thief. Here it is **********************************************!!!!

A day off at Keri Beach |
Date: 17th Jan 07 (I am a lazy writer :))
The past one week I have been busy running around meeting clients, prospective clients and all the people who can do good to my business. But not got enough time to finish off the pending work. So I finally decided that today was the day that I would dedicate to some layouts that have remained pending for quite sometime now. Some pending right from before my sem exams also. But sometimes things just don’t work the way you would want them to.
We had a class picnic that was planned for today. I had every reason to say no, but not one that could convince my friends. I was lazing around in the bed till 9:30am and my friends called up to join in. Called me every 5mins… and almost dragged me out of bed. May be I am too polite to say no. But stay in Goa, and you probably can never say a NO to party, I couldn’t too.
So we had a few cars and bikes to leave for Arambol our picnic spot. Never been to that beach. Infact in spite of living in a party place like Goa, I have not even been to half the number of beaches here. Always thought that all the beaches were the very same…sun, sand and surf. But time and again was proved wrong. Over an hour and a half drive we reached near Arambol. We were just a few minutes away but couldn’t proceed further due to some fight at that place due to the ongoing Regional Plan debate here in Goa. So we changed our picnic spot. Off to Keri Beach…

Dont forget to wear a helmet |
After my recent small accident, I have tried to be a little more careful while riding. Small little things can make a big difference for you. Earlier I used to wear a helmet only where I knew there would be a police interceptor on patrol. There have been times when I have stopped right in front of the police vehicle, shamelessly unlocked my helmet off the hook of my bike and worn it. After a five minute ride I was back to being more vulnerable to a serious head injury in any road accident. Now my attitude surely has changed. Guys please do wear helmets while you are riding. Maybe this one could be a new year resolution for those who dont. I want you all to come back and read my blog always :). Ride safe!

Welcome 2007! |
Family, friends, and Smriti Rao wishing you a Happy New Year! It cant get better than this :) Been home all time… simply watching the whole world partying and wallowing amidst confetti, lights, fireworks, smiles, happiness and promises for the new year!
This new year is certainly going to be a very happening one for me…hehe…not one of those astro predictions telling me this. But I can tell it from inside. New challenges await me… And to get the better of me I have a big list of new year resolutions. Every year I put some time to list them out (dont really care if I follow them or not). Mind you nothing in it that I would like to get public :).
A very Happy New Year to you all!
