A day off at Keri Beach

Date: 17th Jan 07 (I am a lazy writer :))

The past one week I have been busy running around meeting clients, prospective clients and all the people who can do good to my business. But not got enough time to finish off the pending work. So I finally decided that today was the day that I would dedicate to some layouts that have remained pending for quite sometime now. Some pending right from before my sem exams also. But sometimes things just don’t work the way you would want them to.

We had a class picnic that was planned for today. I had every reason to say no, but not one that could convince my friends. I was lazing around in the bed till 9:30am and my friends called up to join in. Called me every 5mins… and almost dragged me out of bed. May be I am too polite to say no. But stay in Goa, and you probably can never say a NO to party, I couldn’t too.

So we had a few cars and bikes to leave for Arambol our picnic spot. Never been to that beach. Infact in spite of living in a party place like Goa, I have not even been to half the number of beaches here. Always thought that all the beaches were the very same…sun, sand and surf. But time and again was proved wrong. Over an hour and a half drive we reached near Arambol. We were just a few minutes away but couldn’t proceed further due to some fight at that place due to the ongoing Regional Plan debate here in Goa. So we changed our picnic spot. Off to Keri Beach

(Oops! the photographer got me in the wrong angle ;))

Nice place. Again (no points for guessing), had not been here too. Not a big beach, the waters were too up for our liking. So cricket and football plans didn’t click bigtime. But we still had fun. The beach was one of the perfect beaches in Goa. Sand, surf, shacks and not to forget thongs, bikinis and much more (Do I have to tell you that most guys had a great time? :P). Keri beach is certainly one of the lesser crowded beaches in Goa. Way off the busy part of Goa, you might have to travel through narrow roads and muddy offroads to reach there. But it’s all worthwhile. A serene, calm and beautiful place to holiday and hard a miss. Disturbing this tranquility was the sound of the bus engine which had its tyre stuck in sand. We all gave it some help. But guess it wasn’t time for things to work out!

We walked into the beach sand bare-footed (a couple of hours later it wouldn’t have been the same – the sand as hot as volcanic lava). Some tourists who had the extra bucks and extra need for thrill were flying above our heads (paragliding I mean). But we had enough reasons not to look elsewhere than people on ground ;). After some play we all joined in for food. We have a meticulous planner in our group, who had done all the arrangements. We didn’t have to bother more than putting the spoon in the mouth.

Soon after food, we entered into the water which was a little warmer than that in the morning. Water sports is certainly more fun. But only until you are closer to the shore. As some guy had drowned there just a day earlier. (Caution: Not a beach for swimmers). So we all took care that we didn’t go too far. I was feeling lighter than water after about a year! Floating on the water, as though gonna lie there indefinitely, not to be disturbed by client calls, other worries in life, nothing really except some bigger waves and friends calling out if you just went a little farer in the water. Those couple of hours, I had my best time around in this year. After that we had some photo session on the rocks, hills, caves(?) watching crabs and babes ;) hehe.

In no time the day was all over… me left cursing (god knows whom) for the day being only of 24 hrs. All day sport, fun, fervor and a little darker faces than usual we all had the best time together. It was truly a guys day out. How foolish I was to decide on to miss this one! Thanks to all guys who got me there!

P.S.: We left while the bus was still stuck there :P

I was thinking if we could have an ALL INDIA BLOGGERS’ MEET here in GOA. Bloggers this is your chance to vote! I and some fellow bloggers from Goa, will be glad to do all the arrangements.
