My Blog’s all new Avatar!

I had plans of designing a new theme for my blog from long enough. But could never find the time to. Finally one day had some spare time, so decided to code the css for the theme. Referred some other themes for the wordpress coding while the wordpress support site was also of great help! Also bought an image from stockexpert, and here it is… my new theme all ready for my blog. I titled it Fire in ‘I’. Probably the only “Indian WordPress Theme” around.

My earlier theme was the Gespaa Theme by Phu Ly. Had then modified it a bit, but there certainly is a different pleasure in going custom.

Old Theme:

New Theme:

I have not yet checked if the theme is fully compatible with earlier versions of wordpress. As I just upgraded mine to the latest release of 2.1 and it works all fine here. Right now there are a few bugs, so making a list to fix them. If you find any bugs or can suggest any usability changes, I will be glad to incorporate them. As I have plans of releasing this theme for public use soon. May be those of you who liked this theme and would like to use it for your blog, can expect it by around the next month.

Do let me know how much Fire is there in this theme! :P

How to fix the RAM – Explaining to a girl over phone!

“Women and Americans are kinda dumb at PCs”. I really don’t know why people say it so! I don’t! Even if you may conclude part of it from the conversation transcript below. ;)

Well, I would be dead tomorrow if I had to disclose the real name of the girl in this conversation over my blog. So lets call her simply “Girl”. Please do not make any generalised statements over the example cited below. I am just sharing my experience. I do not want a Women’s commission to sit in front of my house with a dharna or any of those Geeky Tech Girls (anytime smarter than me) hack into my blog!

Just to be safe let me put this disclaimer: :P
The events and characters mentioned in this blog post are fictitious. Any similarity to actual persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental.

Ok here we go… A friend of mine called me up and…

Girl: My PC is not working. Someone told me that its because of the RAM, as my PC is making a “Peeng…Peeng…” sound.

Me: Hmm. Yea looks like a RAM problem. There must be some dust or moisture on the RAM.

Girl: Can you come over to my place and get it right? This Tuesday?

Me: Yup sure. Just keep a screw driver handy.

Shabji…do din se kuch nahin khaya…bhook lagi hai

“Shabji…do din se kuch nahin khaya…bhook lagi hai”. Walk out onto the streets and most certainly a homeless tramp would utter this to you. An age-old preset line used by every beggar, not surprising really, it still works! It did on me too yesterday evening when I walked out of a cellphone showroom. Well, I may be an exception to this, as I usually give away atleast a rupee to them. Possibly so that they stop annoying me or just because I cannot see someone in poor state. Yes, I am still learning to be a beggar ignorant, a skill that most metropolitan people have mastered. Anyway, a few bucks away and I am not broke. So I don’t really mind.

So this eight or nine year old poor kid finds me (they all always do! :( ). It sometimes amuses me, how beggars find their catch, is it just randomly? If so may be I am their random favourite who does not usually disappoint them. I am just too bad at ignoring beggars. Especially when I walk out from one of my city’s premium restaurants (where I just paid a huge overhead for the food and yet left a few bucks as a tip to a salaried guy waiting there). Then why not a few bucks to the beggar who spot me on while entering, and waited all while till I was out so that he can get a few bucks. It’s very interesting how these beggars spot their catch (rock-hearted to say so… I am just learning to be). A couple sitting on a beachside (you think that guy with a fat wallet would refuse in front of his fiancee?), a mom with her kid who gave them a glance (Bet me! She gonna give a rupee in her kid’s hand and ask to handover, thinking that she taught some good values)… But then why me?!!! Or may be as I said, I just might be their random favourite.

Google April Fools fools

If you think that in this new IT age Google is God (or vice versa) and can do anything, you better believe for it. But yet not all that Google tells you to :P. Today I logged on to Gmail and noticed some new FREE service offered by Google.

They call it the Gmail Paper. According to Google:

You can request a physical copy of any email for FREE in your Gmail inbox with the click of a button

Google will print all messages instantly and prepare them for delivery. Allow 2-4 business days for a parcel to arrive via post.

Photo attachments are printed on high-quality, glossy photo paper, and secured to your Gmail Paper with a paper clip. MP3 and WAV files will not be printed. We recommend maintaining copies of your non-paper Gmail in these cases.

You can make us print one, one thousand, or one hundred thousand of your emails. It’s whatever seems reasonable to you.

Gmail Paper is made out of 96% post-consumer organic soybean sputum, and thus, actually helps the environment.

Have a safe April Fools Day

A small story -

A guy is April fooled by his friends. To prove that he is not one, he decides to fool a few of his close friends. Messages them that he has met with a small accident. They call back worrying about him. He looks like a fool all the more… explaining to them that it was a joke. While riding back home he really meets in an accident. Ok he is fine now… no injuries. Just small bike damages.

Moral of the Story: Ride Safely, Wear a helmet. :P :P :P

Hehe…Ok here it is…

“Please don’t think with your spinal cord”.

Have a safe April Fools Day! And please don’t ask me who the guy was ;).
