I, Me and Myself

My first fall off my Bajaj Pulsar 150

A fantastic final paper of your semester, the much awaited end of exam right in front of you, too excited to kick start your bike, too careless to notice the side stand LED glowing and you are just set to vroom… you must have got it right by now, this guy ought to taste some mud. Ah… How embarrassing to tell that I had my first fall off my so beloved Pulsar 150 today. And you do know how :(. Well it turns out to be even more embarrassing when you havnt had a fall after the first time you learnt to ride your bicycle when you were a kid.

All through the few seconds I and my friend skidded with the bike that ripped off my favourite new trousers…I was only thinking of what part of my bike was getting damaged. Once the trio came to a halt all lying on the road above eachother, I looked back to see my rear view mirror broken into infinite pieces. Got up, lifted my bike and then sat down staring at an all the more damaged bike, wondering how the hell did it happen to me! I thought I was a good rider. (more…)

Happy Birthday Goa Web Solutions

Its been a year today that I had started a website designing and hosting firm – Goa Web Solutions. Feels great that my baby is now aged one year :). When I look back to all the ups and downs in business (and hopefully there will be only ups heretofore), the silly things that have got me upset about, the good things that made me jump in joy…its been a long ride to reach here.

A big thanks to all my friends and wellwishers who have been with me all through and ofcourse how can I forget to thank my clients for without the trust they showed in me it wouldnt have been possible. :)

Just a little earlier in the day, I had a suprise in store for the site visitors on… Yeah a few hours left. Guess you can surely try your luck too!

Petrolwaale Bhayya

It is not a new trick for the ‘doodhwaala bhayyas’ to mix water in the milk he sells. Most of us won’t even realise the difference. But when it comes to adulterating petrol with water… I guess it is worth a laugh! You think it dsnt happen???… it does…may be you would have heard it in the news sometime, but let me tell you what happened to my friend…

My friend had some problem with his year old Honda Unicorn. The bike would stop while riding. He gave it to the service center a couple of times… no improvement. Finally he decided to show it to his family mechanic (I mean the local guy whom his whole family has trusted for long). That day, I happened to be with him. The guy emptied the whole petrol tank and collected the petrol in a container. We could clearly see two layers of liquid.

I poured a little into a pet bottle to see the difference more clearly. The heavier one(now in excess) was water and the petrol layer floating over it! Wow what dumbass the petrol guys were! Adulterating petrol with water???!!!… man its hilarious! The mechanic claimed that the petrol tank was properly sealed and there could be no chance of any seepage of water in the rains…I gave it a little thought and concluded that may be the petrol was adulterated with kerosene or something, which may have been adulterated with water.

In the pic, the container was a little muddy so the colour.

Well my friend fills petrol only at one petrol pump (as it’s nearest to his house). We thought of taking a sample from there. Once we do that and find a positive result, will post the details here. Until then, let the petrol pump guy (certainly no better than the illiterate bhayyas) have some nice sleep!

Digesting Shastriya Sangeet

Took out some time off my busy schedule, and had been to Pune for a 2 day break. I thought I will have some jolly time, but then had to attend a ‘Shastriya Sangeet’ program for my cousin singing in it… Quite comfortable for the first hour I thought that classical singing was so misunderstood by majority of the teen generation who prefer Eminem or Enrique on the beats… or beat up their beats with Metallica or like crazy rock band.

But my belief didn’t remain so for long… Every raag and song presented there was like 20-25 mins each….. The program extended for 5 and a half hours!!! :( (Thanks to the coffee break) At the end of it I was like FUSED! :dizzy: Tapping my feet, shaking my head on the taal(I dont know if I found it right), clapping at times, wearing a plastic smile on the face… well to show all, that I was enjoying so very much. Everyone was doing that, and I didn’t want to be the odd one out there. Infact, I was completely the wrong guy for the program. I don’t even understand the ‘S’ of singing…So then I preferred switching on to SMSing pals… My only savior! ;)

Well after leaving the program, way back home… I realized I was humming some tune… gave it a little thought and found it was a tune of one of the ragas I heard at the program. Hehe… It wasn’t all that bad! If not me, I am proud that many have continued our culture through our rich singing domain. May be the next time I am at such a program, I will give a little more thought and time to it!

Trip to Mumbai – to IIT Powai

Right in my twelfth it was my dream to study in any one of the IITs, but sadly could not crack the JEE exam. So finally I had to do what most of my batchmates did. Joined Goa Engineering College. The not so bright students (now including me) didn’t really have a choice. Now that I know its ranked 75th in India… ok I am there somewhere! :)

Our faculty here… I always admired them for being so meticulous over the fundas and concepts but never really wanted to be like them. I was happy with my five pointer sorta life. But suddenly there was this hype about selecting a project for our final year. I don’t know what hit me, but I thought this would be my last chance to really study something in my four years of engineering life. Most of which has been spent sitting and chatting in the college canteen.

So we spoke over to our professor and managed to contact a professor from IIT Powai. We decided to leave for IIT on the immediate weekend. Our college has a MoU with the institution that allows use its resources for our final year project.

WAY TO MUMBAI

Just as ideal students should be doing, we attended the morning half of college, and left to board the Konkan Kanya train. We spent most of our time, standing and sitting at the door of the train, watching the scenic beauty… the forests and rivers that passed by. It was so very refreshing. (more…)
